OUR STORY

Kost Collection is inspired by our founder Lucy Kost’s childhood – growing up surrounded by antiques that her parents imported from around the world, and playing house in the attic of her 1889 family home. From a young age, she was surrounded by beauty, history, and art.

She credits her love of home décor and hosting to her grandmothers, “Granbet” and “Maime,” both of whom traveled the world from their small town in the Mississippi Delta. In high school, she too ventured out; to live in Italy for two years – an experience that continues to inspire her today. In her home, you’ll find colorful and fun spaces that make room for creativity and laughter, and of course, beloved antiques passed down through the generations.

In 2020, Lucy decided to share her love of storytelling through décor and start a business to bring beautiful, timeless pieces into people’s homes. After several years of dreaming, she opened Kost Collection in 2023 with a mission to combine the craftsmanship and history of the old world with the color, comfort, and fun of the modern age.

MEET LUCY

Founded by design enthusiast Lucy Kost, Kost Collection is a celebration of timeless, nostalgic design. Lucy loves color and texture. She is a shopaholic with an antiquing problem - creating Kost Collection is her solution. Her husband Gus (our wonderful CFO, affectionately known as Mr. Kost Collection) is thankful that she now sells the antiques she brings home. With a background in Hospitality Management from Ole Miss and years spent living in Italy, her career has spanned events, marketing, and the culinary arts. These diverse experiences have shaped her love for creating inviting, beautiful spaces designed for making memories. Lucy and her little family live in Richmond, VA.
